Here's the latest drawing for the Magnificent Beasts series. I am finding tons of inspiration with these super athletes. I've been a bit burnt out on painting. I am not sure why, maybe it's because I am still working away from my permanent studio. Hopefully the spark will come back soon.
Thinking about my next set of equine paintings today. I bought a tablet of Strathmore drawing paper. I am going to work a bit in pencil and try and fill it up in the next few weeks. Winter blahs are setting in. I am looking forward to getting outside soon.
Starting a new Magnificent Beast picture today. The canvas has a bit of texture, I like the tooth but I have to work a bit harder to get the paint to completely cover it. So much detail on the tack. It was best to start this image on a white surface. The day light left early today. I hope to get back to it tomorrow, that will depend on if today's paint is dry enough.
At this point the picture is all about the small details. This makes the process a bit slower. I'm not sure if you can see the difference from yesterday's post.
I am going to use the rest of the day to start a new picture. The light is going away and it looks as if it may snow.
Here are two shots of equine portraits on linen. These two guys are sooo easy to paint. I am going into the details of the bridles and bits tomorrow. I will have a wall of horses when this project is through.
